ARB Fluro 12 Volt Light
There are a few different fluoro lights on the market, namely the Versa-Lite being the ‘one of choice’. We borrowed a Versa light for our 2003 Cape York trip and was hooked ever since. I was in one of the ARB stores and saw one sitting there, and impulse kicked in and I departed with it in my hand less a few dollars in my wallet.

Stihl MS230C and Accessories
The Chainsaw can be the most dangerous item you take 4wding but it can also be one of the handiest. From cutting up a tree blocking a track, to cutting some firewood to get the campfire ready for that delicious Camp Oven Roast.

Air Transfer Hose
A handy little Gadget to Carry….Jamec Female Coupling with Air Chuck - It seals with Air pressure this you have in the ‘free’ end of the hose
Jamec Male Coupling and Clip on Air tyre inflator, I hook this straight on my spare tyre (which sits around 50-60 PSI for a 4wd trip) and the hose for my compressor goes between it and the coupling above..
This all makes a neat tyre to tyre hose… can be used if the compressor dies or you just need to give the tyres a quick inflation / equalise. This is our custom and home made from fittings inflator. Guage reads the true pressure when the 1/4 turn valve is closed. it would have been cheaper to buy a good inflator but wasn’t as much fun as building it!
Victorian High Country Huts - Bus Hut
Bus Hut is a small single room hut located on No 3 Rd. This hut has a badly burnt all where the fire has gotten into the wall. It was originally used by the Loggers in the 1960’s and was formerly known as Ivan’s Hut.

Victorian High Country Huts - Refuge Mt No3 Hut
This is one of the best huts we have seen in the highcountry; A nice double story hut with an large upstairs area for sleeping, table in the bottom story and decent fireplace. There is a small out house about 50metres from the hut. The hut is well constructed, has a timber floor and well sealed from the elements. Located between Tomahawk and Bus Huts.

The Huts of the High Country
Many people trek to the High Country each year. People from all over the globe head up to enjoy the beautiful scenary by a wide range of methods. Be it 4wding, Mountain Biking, Hiking, Cross country skiing or Motorbiking there are many ways to enjoy the high country. Scattered through the whole high country are a large number of Huts. Build over the last 150 years by people for a number of purposes, Safety in the winter from blizzards such as some of the skiing huts, some built for Loggers to live in whilst working in the area and logging the timber as well as some built by the Cattleman to live whilst mustering cattle each year.
Victorian High Country Huts - Tomahawk Hut
Tomahawk Hut
Tomahawk Hut is located off Carters Rd and can be access directly off the main road to Mt Buller just past Merrijig. It is an easy drive to the hut and 2wd mode driving. This area is in the process of being logged at the moment so roads are closed (Jan 2006) although we managed to get through being a public holiday. The road climbs to eventually hit a y intersection, following the left fork you approach the hut. This small hut made from horizontal Logs, a lot like bindaree hut, is heavily graffitied which is a shame. The inside again is similar to bindaree having a dirt floor and simple fireplace / shelf.Tomahawk hut was build for the Road Building crews to base themselves in when the Forestry Commission built it in the 1960’s.
