Faulty Engine mounts on my Pathfinder – Reader Submitted
On the 31/7/2009 my 2006 Pathfinder received its 125,000kms service by my local Nissan dealer in Cleveland QLD .
It was astonishing to learn that they had discovered both engine mounts are cracked and are in need of urgent replacement. I have never heard of such a fault occurring in a young vehicle used mainly on sealed surfaces. The service manager was as bemused as I was as to the fault.
He went on to say that it generally is caused by stress and its very uncommon.
As the vehicle is now out of warranty I was even more disturbed to fork out over a $1000 to rectify the the problem. Nissan head office and the Dealer said due to the cars age and mileage they would NOT come to the party to assist in any cost of repair.
I have had this car since new and conducted all services through the same dealer. The vehicle has only been off road once on LEVEL beach sand and for less than five kilometres of driving.
I look after sales for a distribution company in QLD so 95% of my mileage is around town on sealed roads.
Hopefully you can encourage your readers that they get their dealer to to inspect the mounts while they are still under warranty, at least for their own safety, as the dealer pointed out to me it is quite dangerous.
Regards
Tony
